Los Angeles, June 3, 2015 - DJI recently partnered with Deadmau5, the Canadian progressive-house music producer and performer, around his participation in Gumball 3000. One of the world’s largest cross-continental car rallies, Gumball 3000 has featured some of the rarest, most eccentrically designed, and most luxurious cars.

More than US$200 million in precious cars raced from Stockholm, Sweden to Amsterdam, Netherlands for the first leg of the race before being flown to Reno, Nevada for the start of the second and final leg which ended in Las Vegas. Proceeds from the rally will benefit underprivileged youth through education and environmental projects.

It's usually assumed that the main factor to consider in a rally of this type is speed. But in this case, exclusivity is the true measure of success. Effectively, this is a vanity fair of cars in unique colorful wraps and inscribed with sponsor logos with many celebrities taking part, including the TV star David Hasselhoff, who, with his Nissan GTR, paid homage to his legendary Knight Rider KITT car.

DJI’s video team followed Deadmau5, who pilots his own DJI drones, as he drove his two McLaren P1 cars from Reno to Las Vegas via San Francisco and Los Angeles. DJI captured the entire experience along the way using a variety of DJI equipment, including the Inspire 1, Ronin, Ronin-M and the Phantom 3 Professional.

Along the way, Deadmau5, who has been featured in a video with his DJI Inspire 1, showed off his McLaren P1 at San Francisco’s Civic Center Plaza and raced Dodge Vipers at Buttonwillow Raceway Park on the way to LA, where again his car was displayed at LA Live. Next stop was the Death Valley, before finally heading to glitzy Las Vegas for a closing concert and a final display of his car at the MGM Resorts Village.

The rally showcased the best of both DJI’s technological creativity and Deadmau5’s musical creativity as being a perfect alignment of brands.
