DJI and Bentley Collaborate to Develop Hardware and Software Solutions
for Capturing Reality Context for Infrastructure Projects

Bentley Systems' ContextCapture Creates Information-rich 3D Models from Drone-captured Imagery

CITY, St, U.S.A --December 12, 2016 – DJI, the world's leading maker of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), today announced a collaboration with Bentley Systems on packaged solutions that include DJI imaging solutions and technology from Bentley's ContextCapture, a reality modeling software package that uses two-dimensional photographs and laser scans to create three-dimensional models.

"This collaboration builds on our companies'respective strengths, creating tremendous synergies," said DJI Vice President Paul Xu. "By integrating Bentley's ContextCapture with our imaging products, we are providing the tools to improve work efficiencies in the design, construction, and operation of infrastructure assets and enabling our users to realize the full benefits of the stability, flexibility, and maneuverability of DJI's aerial platforms."

"Our work with DJI further advances infrastructure projects through the use of UAVs for the continuous capture of infrastructure assets' as-operated conditions for processing into engineering-ready reality meshes. Combining the powerful 3D photogrammetry capabilities of ContextCapture with DJI's UAV and imaging products delivers a powerful new capability to infrastructure professionals globally," said Francois Valois, senior director, reality modeling, Bentley Systems.

Using ContextCapture on DJI aerial and handheld devices, users can quickly produce 3D models of existing conditions of infrastructure projects. These highly detailed 3D reality meshes provide precise real-world context for design, construction, and operations decisions throughout the project lifecycle and can be accessed and shared in any CAD, BIM, or GIS workflow.

DJI will provide solutions using three versions of ContextCapture technology, corresponding to  three levels of data capture and processing functionality. Pricing and availability will be announced in early 2017.
