The first aerial photography workshop held by Santa Fe Photographic Workshops and DJI was a great educational experience for both us and the participants. As our Director of Education Romeo Durscher put it:
“The first workshop was a great learning experience for all of us. This is such a new technology and Santa Fe Photographic Workshops is really leading the way in providing workshops on new technologies. Participants were able to learn about a number of different topics; from hands-on experiences with drones and how they work, to how to perform minor maintenance, all the way to current regulations of the technology. Following the one-on-one flying instruction sessions, the workshop went on to focus on aerial photography, utilizing the beautiful wilderness of New Mexico to show what can be done with flying cameras. The workshop was a great way for beginners to get a feel for the technology and experiment with the aerial camera and its capabilities.”
The workshop was so highly appreciated that we’re now preparing more in-depth workshops, the first one on October 26-30th, with additional workshops scheduled for March 2016.
The October workshop is for the beginner drone pilot and photographer — the person who has been thinking about learning the fun aspects of aerial photography but hasn’t had the time to get started learning by themselves. No prior experience is needed as this workshop starts with the basics and over the course of five days, teaches the participants not only how to get off the ground, but also build their skills and confidence.
In March, the first of the two workshops will be a focused weekend workshop, on March 12-13th. Immediately following this, we will have a full five-day workshop, on March 13-18th. Both workshops will focus on safe flying techniques, and the five-day workshop will use the additional days to cover aerial photography.
