Policy Introduction
Danish authorities allow tourists to fly drones under Civil Aviation Administration Denmark (CAA-DK/SLV) regulations. The CAA-DK has issued a series of regulations for drone flight operations. Some highlights of these regulations are as follows:
Follow all regulations on photography in public and private places
Keep your aircraft away from other UAVs
Pilots must be 18 years of age
Check the local aviation authority's website and review all necessary rule and regulations before flying
Fly below the altitude of 120 m
Operators must keep aircraft within their line of sight while flying
Steps to follow as a new drone pilot
- The owners of Drones (weighing more than 250 g or flying faster than 50 km/h) must be registered with the Danish Transport, Construction and Housing Authority before the drone is operated.
- The aircraft must be marked with the owner’s name, telephone number and registration number assigned by the Danish Transport, Construction and Housing Authority.
- Drone flights in busy areas may only be conducted for professional purposes and shall be operated in such a way that the lives and properties of other persons are not exposed to danger or other unnecessary inconveniences. A busy area is an area used for habitation, commercial or recreational purposes, including but not limited to sports facilities, resort areas, camping sites, and industrial and harbor areas.
- The pilot must have a drone awareness accreditation. Pilots under the age of 15 must pass a test under the supervision of a parent or guardian.
- Stay 150 m away from roads, emergencies, royal residences, embassies, Column 3 companies, the property of law enforcement agencies, Danish Prison and Probation Service institutions, and military installations.
Read the local regulations and consult authorities if necessary before flying your drone.
