Policy Introduction

German authorities allow users to fly drones under BMVI (Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure) regulations.The BMVI has issued a series of regulations for drone flight operations, including (but not limited to) the following.

Fly below the official altitude limit of 100 meters

Always maintain line of sight of the aircraft

Do not fly in dangerous areas

Do not fly over crowds

Users must have liability insurance

Drones heavier than 250 g are required to have an attached identity tag

  • Acquire an official certificate of knowledge before operating any aircraft that weighs at least 2 kg.

Carry-on BaggageEach passenger can carry no more than 20 detached batteries on board. Attached batteries can be carried on board.
Checked-in BaggageDetached batteries cannot be checked in. Equipment with small attached batteries can be checked in.
Common EquipmentMavic Series, Phantom Series, Spark, Osmo Series, product accessories.

Medium Batteries

Battery Energy100-160 Wh
Carry-on BaggageEach passenger can carry no more than 2 detached batteries on board. Attached batteries can be carried on board.
Checked-in BaggageDetached batteries cannot be checked in. Equipment with medium attached batteries can be checked in.
Common EquipmentCertain Inspire and Matrice aircraft.
