Policy Introduction

Luxembourg authorities allow tourists to fly drones under Directorate of Civil Aviation (DAC) regulations. The DAC has issued a series of regulations for drone flight operations. Some highlights of these regulations are as follows:

Fly below the DAC’s altitude limit of 50 m

Stay 2 km away from helicopter landing pads or airports

Operators must keep aircraft within their line of sight while flying

Operators must purchase public liability insurance before flying

Check GEO zones before every flight

Check the local aviation authority's website and review all relevant rules and regulations before flying

Steps to follow as a new drone pilot

  • Do not fly drones without permission from the Directorate of Civil Aviation (DAC).
  • Do not fly over groups of people, animals, railways or highways.
  • Do not film or photograph other people and or private property without explicit consent.

Carry-on BaggageEach passenger can carry no more than 20 detached batteries on board. Attached batteries can be carried on board.
Checked-in BaggageDetached batteries cannot be checked in. Equipment with small attached batteries can be checked in.
