Policy Introduction

Macanese authorities allow pilots to fly drones in compliance with Civil Aviation Authority of Macao Special Administrative Region (AACM) regulations. The AACM has issued a series of regulations for drone flight operations, and some highlights of these regulations are listed below:

Always fly below the AACM’s altitude limit (30 m)

Always maintain visual contact with your drone

Always check the AACM website for updates and information before flying

Do not fly drones that weigh more than 7 kg. (All DJI drones are under 7 kg.)

Do not fly above populated areas

Do not fly at night

Steps to follow as a new drone pilot

  • Stay away from sensitive buildings, infrastructure, and facilities.
  • Always ensure that you are within 100 m of the drone that you are operating.
  • Do not use your drone to carry explosive or hazardous materials.
  • Do not fly within 100 m of a gathering of 100 persons or more.
  • Do not drop items from your drone.
  • Drones that weigh more than 250 g are required to have an attached identity tag with the owner’s name and telephone number, in both English and Chinese.

Carry-on BaggageEach passenger can carry no more than 20 detached batteries on board. Attached batteries can be carried on board.
Checked-in BaggageDetached batteries cannot be checked in. Equipment with small attached batteries can be checked in.
