Policy Introduction

Polish authorities allow tourists to fly drones under The Civil Aviation Authority of the Republic of Poland (ULC) regulations. The ULC has issued a series of regulations for drone flight operations. Some highlights of these regulations are as follows:

Operators must keep aircraft within their line of sight while flying

Stay 5km away from aircraft, airports, and airfields

Do not fly over crowds of people, cities, buildings, or roads

Fly below the ULC’s altitude limit of 150 m

Respect the privacy of others

Drone operators should have a liability insurance

Steps to follow as a new drone pilot

  • All flights related to the provision of services, such as photography and filming video, require a certificate of competency issued by the President of the Civil Aviation Authority after passing a state theoretical and practical exam.
  • Check the local aviation authority's website and review all necessary rules and regulations before every flight.
  • Operators should ensure their flight will not endanger persons, property or other users of the airspace.
  • Violations of aviation law are punishable with sanctions up to 5 years of imprisonment.
  • Operators must only fly in open spaces.
  • Operators must be certified in flying drones for non-recreational or sports purposes.
