No. When using the camera function, you need to insert a microSD card into the Intelligent Controller for photo and video storage.
How can I calibrate the RoboMaster S1 gimbal and chassis?
Connect the S1 to the RoboMaster app, launch the app, tap “Settings”, “System” and ''Gimbal and Chassis Calibration''. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete calibration.
What are the differences between Connection via Wi-Fi and Connection via Router?
1) Connection method: Connection via Wi-Fi means that the RoboMaster S1 connects to the mobile device directly through Wi-Fi. Connection via Router means the RoboMaster S1 connects to the mobile device through a router.
2) Available scenarios: Connection via Wi-Fi is suitable for single-machine operation or LAN-free environments. Connection via Router provides broader signal coverage, which allows multiple control methods and for robots to operate simultaneously on the same network.
Which router model is recommended?
For Battle mode, it is recommended to use a router that supports 5 GHz to reduce signal interference. If you use a router that only supports 2.4 GHz, it is recommended to choose the 3×3 MIMO Router.

What is the operating temperature of the RoboMaster S1?

Can the RoboMaster S1’s armor color be changed?
Yes. Launch the RoboMaster app, go to “Settings”, “Display” and “LED Color” to change the armor LED’s color.
How can I address the chassis armor of the RoboMaster S1?
To perform addressing for the robot’s armor, launch the RoboMaster app, go to “Settings”, “System” and “Armor Addressing”.
What is the maximum rotation speed of the RoboMaster S1’s chassis?
600°/s.
Why does the app show no health point (HP) deduction when my S1 armor is struck?
1) Launch the RoboMaster app, go to “Settings”, “Control”, and “Firing Mode” and make sure “Gel Beads” is selected. The effects should then be shown on FPV interface.
2) Check whether the hit detector is mounted firmly and the cable connecting the motion controller is attached tightly.
3) Check whether the hit detector and motion controller work normally in the app.
How does the RoboMaster S1 Motion Controller LED display when an issue occurs?
No Attitude Information: Blinking red, blue, and yellow alternatively
IMU Calibration Failure: Blinking red quickly
Enter Stop Status: Blinking red slowly
Can the SBUS, UART, USB, and MO ports on the RoboMaster S1 Motion Controller be used?
Currently no. DJI will also not be responsible for any damage caused by the user's unsanctioned use.
How are the PWM ports on the RoboMaster S1 Motion Controller used?
There are 6 PWM ports on the Motion Controller, which are mainly used for the control of the servo (it is recommended to use the standard servo cable) and LEDs. The duration of high-level performance over the specified time period can be controlled by running a program to set the output percentage for the PWM port in RoboMaster Lab. Which apps does RoboMaster S1 support? Where can I download them?
The RoboMaster app is an app (iOS, Android, Windows) developed specifically for the RoboMaster S1. You can search for the RoboMaster app in the App Store/Google Play, or download the mobile version of the app by scanning the QR code in the User Manual. You can also go to the official website (www.dji.com) to download the app for computers.
What Windows operating systems does the RoboMaster S1 support?
The 64-bit versions of Windows 7, 8, and 10 are supported.
How do I activate the RoboMaster S1?
When you connect your RoboMaster S1 to the RoboMaster app for the first time, the activation prompt will pop up automatically. Follow the activation instructions in the app. For more details, watch the tutorial video “RoboMaster S1 Tutorial - First Time Use”.
How can I connect my mobile device, tablet, or computer to the RoboMaster S1?

Is it possible to upgrade the RoboMaster S1 using a computer?
Yes. The S1 can be upgraded via the desktop version of the RoboMaster app.
What is the effective detection distance of the RoboMaster S1 in Follow mode?
Follow mode is most effective when the subject is within a range of 2-5 meters from the S1.
Does the RoboMaster S1 audio function work two ways?
At present, sound from the S1 can be returned to the app, but the app cannot send voice or other sounds to the S1.
What mobile devices are supported by the RoboMaster app? Where can I find the compatibility list?
iOS devices: iOS 10.0 and above

Why does Battle mode not work after multiple S1 units are connected via router?
In Battle mode, all S1s need to be connected via the same router simultaneously on the same network. Please check whether the network connection is normal.
Is there a way to adjust the S1’s control sensitivity?
Yes. Go to “Settings”, “Control”, and “Control Sensitivity” to adjust this.
What are the configuration requirements for RoboMaster App for Windows?
Recommended configuration for RoboMaster app for Windows is shown below:
CPU: 5th Generation Intel or later version, AMD or equivalent products;

Gimbal

How many axes does the RoboMaster S1’s gimbal have?
The RoboMaster S1’s gimbal uses two-axis stabilization.
Can I disassemble the RoboMaster S1’s gimbal?
No. The component or cables may be damaged during disassembly.
What is the controllable range of the RoboMaster S1’s gimbal?
The controllable range of the tilt axis is -20° to +35°, and the controllable range of the pan axis is ±250°.
What should I do if the RoboMaster S1 gimbal has abnormal vibration or gets stuck during movement?
If issues occur, power off the product and check if the gimbal and other modules are mounted in place and cables are attached correctly. Also, check to make sure the gimbal can rotate smoothly without any foreign objects blocking it.
Can I mount other objects onto the RoboMaster S1 gimbal?
Do not mount other objects on the gimbal or apply external force to it for extended durations; otherwise, the motor may emit heat abnormally, triggering the gimbal protection mechanism and affecting usage. Also, try to avoid lifting up or adjusting the Blaster by hand. This operation may result in damage to the gimbal’s structure.
What are the mobile device requirements for the S1 gimbal gyro control?
Only mobile devices with gyroscopes are supported.
Where are the infrared sensors of the RoboMaster S1 mounted?
A narrow-angle infrared transmitter is mounted on the front side of the Blaster, and a wide-angle infrared transmitter and an infrared receiver are mounted on both sides of the gimbal.
What is the optimal environment for the RoboMaster S1’s infrared sensor to be used?
In order to get a better experience when using infrared beams or other infrared functions, it is recommended to operate indoors and/or in environments with low infrared light intensity.
What is the effective emission range of the RoboMaster S1 narrow-angle infrared sensor and wide-angle infrared sensor?
In indoor lighting environments, the effective emission range of the narrow-angle infrared sensors is 6 meters, the effective angle is within the range of 40° to 10°, and the effective angle decreases when the distance increases. The wide-angle infrared emission can reach 360° within the range of three meters.
Note: When using outdoors or in environments with strong infrared light, the infrared sensor may be affected, and the performance may be weakened. It is recommended to use the infrared functions indoors.
How can the infrared beams transmitted from the RoboMaster S1 narrow-angle infrared sensor reduce HP?
HP will be deducted when the infrared beams transmitted by an S1 strike the intelligent sensing armor on another S1.

Blaster

What is the capacity of the gel bead container?
The gel bead container can hold approximately 430 gel beads.
What shooting methods does the RoboMaster S1 support?
The S1 supports two shooting methods: gel beads and infrared beams. The shooting mode is set to “Infrared Beam” by default, and it can be changed by going to “Settings”, “Control”, and “Firing Mode”.
Is it normal to hear friction noises when using the RoboMaster S1 Blaster?
Yes, there is a gearbox inside the Blaster, and there is noise generated when the gear rotates.
How often does the RoboMaster S1 Blaster need to be cleaned?
It is recommended that the Blaster be cleaned after each use. Make sure there are no remaining gel beads in the Blaster and wipe off any moisture on the surface.
Can the RoboMaster S1 Blaster shoot in gel bead firing mode if there are no gel beads inside?
It is not recommended to use the Blaster without gel beads.
Under what circumstances can the RoboMaster S1's Cooldown button be used?
The Cooldown button can be used when shooting the infrared beam or gel beads in the Challenge mode under SOLO mode or Battle mode.

What is the maximum bitrate of the video taken by the RoboMaster S1?
16Mbps.
Does the RoboMaster S1 camera support zooming?
It supports up to 4x digital zoom.
What is the resolution of photos captured by the RoboMaster S1’s camera?
The photo resolution is 2560×1440 pixels.
What are the resolutions and frame rates of videos recorded by the RoboMaster S1’s camera?
The video resolutions and frame rates are 1080/30fps and 720/30fps.
What are the RoboMaster S1 photo and video formats?
The photo format is JPEG, and the video format is MP4.
What microSD card does the RoboMaster S1 support?
The RoboMaster S1 supports microSD cards with a capacity of up to 64GB and a minimum write speed of 10MB/s.
Can the RoboMaster S1 record photos and videos if no microSD card is inserted to the Intelligent Controller?
With a microSD card inserted, the S1 can capture photos and record 720p and 1080p videos, and the cached photos or videos are stored on the Media Library in the app while the original footage is stored on the SD card. Without a microSD card, 720p is the only resolution option and the cache is stored on the Media Library.
Can the RoboMaster S1 adjust the camera parameters, such as ISO, shutter, and EV?
No.
How can the RoboMaster S1 camera be cleaned or maintained?
If the image is blurred or has a halo effect, the lens may be smeared by oil stains and needs to be cleaned properly. Use a special lens cleaner and cleaning cloth to wipe the lens and ensure that there are no foreign objects obstructing it.
What is the maximum transmission distance of the S1?

How do I power the RoboMaster S1 on and off?
Press and hold the battery power button for about two seconds to power on or off.
Does the RoboMaster S1 battery need to be turned off before charging?
Yes. Keep the Intelligent Battery off while charging; otherwise, the power port may be damaged.
What should I do if the RoboMaster S1 battery does not respond during first use?
When using the S1 battery for the first time, the battery needs to be connected to the charger for activation. This takes about 15 seconds.
What is the battery life of the RoboMaster S1? How long does it take to fully charge the battery?
The S1 can work about 35 minutes (*measured at a constant speed of 2.0m/s on a flat surface), and it takes about 90 minutes to fully charge the battery.
*The battery life on standby is about 100 minutes.
How should I maintain the S1 battery?
Batteries should be stored in a waterproof and moisture-free area. If the battery is not used for more than 10 days, discharge the battery to 40-60% of the total battery level. It is also recommended users charge and discharge their battery every three months to keep it active.
How do I update the RoboMaster S1 battery?
When the S1 is updating, the battery will be updating at the same time. If the battery needs to be updated an “Inconsistent Firmware Found” prompt will be shown in the app. Please follow the instructions in the app to update the battery.

Propulsion

What is the maximum speed of the S1? What is the acceleration velocity?
The maximum forward speed is 3.5 m/s, the maximum backward speed is 2.5 m/s, and the maximum speed when moving sideways is 2.8 m/s. To adjust acceleration speeds, launch the RoboMaster app, go to “Settings”, “Control”, “Speed” and select “Custom” to adjust.
Is the M3508I brushless motor waterproof?
No.

The maximum speed of the brushless motor is 1000 rpm

How is the motor of the RoboMaster S1 addressed?

What type of surfaces are the RoboMaster S1 Mecanum wheels suitable for?
It is recommended to use S1 on flat, sturdy surfaces (e.g., cement, marble, wooden floors, carpets). Uneven surfaces (e.g., as sand or dirt) may damage the Mecanum wheels or motors.
How should I maintain the Mecanum wheels of the RoboMaster S1?
Avoid using the robots on uneven surfaces; otherwise, the Mecanum wheels may be worn down quickly and the noise of the wheels may increase. It is recommended that after every 40 to 60 hours of use, remove the hub and apply grease to the shaft hole.

What programming languages does the RoboMaster S1 support?

Up to 46 modules of the S1 can be accessed and controlled through programming, including the chassis, gimbal, Blaster, armor, LEDs, and more.

The S1 can detect and follow blue, red, and green tracks with a width of approximately 15-25 mm.
What is the effective detection distance of the RoboMaster S1 Clap Recognition function?
It can recognize a clap from approximately 1.5 meters away from the device.

Can the RoboMaster S1 identify unofficial Vision Markers?
At present, the S1 can identify 44 kinds of official Vision Markers (consisting of 7×7 pixel blocks, mainly numbers, letters, and some special characters). Seven Vision Markers are provided in the official shipping package, and the rest can be downloaded and printed on the official website or "App" - "Guide" - "Vision Markers".
Note: When printing Vision Markers, please note that the color and size of the marker must be the same as those provided by DJI.
How do I use “DIY Programming” in RoboMaster Lab?
Open the RoboMaster app, go to “LAB” and “DIY Programming.” Tap the right corner icon on the selected program and set the program as “General”, “Custom Skills” (the program can be used at any time in SOLO and Battle modes after tapping the custom skills icon), and “Autonomous Program” (tap the Autonomous Program button to use it). The program can also be uploaded to “My Cloud Space” or shared to other players, who can open and run the program in the RoboMaster app.
How many programs in "DIY Programming" can I set as custom skills or autonomous programs at once?
Currently, only one custom skill or autonomous program can be supported at the same time.
Under what circumstances can the RoboMaster S1 Autonomous Program Button not be used?
The Autonomous Program button cannot be used in Challenge mode (Target Race and Target Practice) under SOLO mode, Battle mode, or on the settings interface.
Why does the speed of the S1 when it executes the Autonomous Program not match the speed set by the player?
In order to protect the S1 and personal safety, DJI limits the speed of the S1 in Autonomous Program mode. The maximum translational speed of the S1 is 1 m/s, and the maximum rotation speed is 250°/s. If the program is set to exceed the maximum speed, the program will automatically be set to the maximum speed value in this mode when running the program.
Can I take photos or videos at the same time while running an Autonomous Program?
Set the program into a Custom Skill or Autonomous Program, and capture photos or videos on the FPV interface in Solo mode or Battle mode.
Can the S1 be controlled when running an Autonomous program?
Yes. Open the RoboMaster app, go to “LAB” and “DIY Programming.” Then set the “open chassis speed accelerate” block from the “Chassis” category and the “open gimbal speed accelerate” block from the “Gimbal” category. Then you can control the chassis or gimbal to achieve speed accelerate when running the program.

What size mobile devices can fit the RoboMaster S1 Gamepad?
The Gamepad can fit mobile devices up to 242 mm.
What is the size of the RoboMaster S1 Gamepad?
Gamepad size: 202.07×99.15×56.27 mm (length × width × height).
What is the operating temperature of the RoboMaster S1 Gamepad?
The operating environment temperature is -10 to 45°C.
How can the RoboMaster S1 Gamepad be powered on or off?
Press the Power button once to power on the Gamepad. Press and hold the button to turn it off.
Does the RoboMaster S1 Gamepad need to be linked before use?
No, just connect the mobile device to the mobile device port on the Gamepad and run the RoboMaster app to connect to the S1.
What is the charging current and voltage of the RoboMaster S1 Gamepad?
The Gamepad's charging current and voltage are 1.28 A and 5 V.

How do I update the RoboMaster S1 Gamepad?
Connect the Gamepad to your mobile device and open the RoboMaster app. If a new firmware version is available, the app will prompt the user to update. Please follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.
What types of mobile device interfaces does the RoboMaster S1 Gamepad support?
Supported mobile device interface types: Lightning, Micro USB (Type-B), and USB Type-C.
Can the RoboMaster S1 Gamepad be controlled without connecting a mobile device?
No.
Does the RoboMaster S1 Gamepad support keyboard use?
The RoboMaster S1 Gamepad supports most wireless mouse and keyboard receivers. Logitech and Rapoo are recommended.
What computer mouse brands are supported by the RoboMaster S1 Gamepad?
Most mouse brands are supported, and the recommended brands are Logitech and Rapoo. It is also recommended to use a wired mouse.
Does the RoboMaster S1 Gamepad support the USB-Hub mouse and keyboard?
No.
How does the RoboMaster S1 Gamepad control the robot?
Use the joystick to control the S1 to move forward, backward, left, and right. The S1’s gimbal angle can be adjusted by using your mobile device’s virtual joystick or an external mouse connected to the mouse port on the Gamepad. For more details, please refer to RoboMaster S1 Gamepad User Guide.

How long should I soak the RoboMaster S1 gel beads before use? After how long do the gel beads become unusable once they are removed from water?
Use normal water and soak the gel beads for about 4 hours at room temperature. It is recommended to use them within 24 hours after they are removed from the water.
Are the gel beads made of safe material?
The gel beads for the RoboMaster S1 are made of safe, non-toxic gel that softens and expands when soaked in water. Please use them according to the instructions.
