DJI Launches AP100 Parachute for Matrice 400
Designed to protect platforms, payloads, and the ground below, DJI AP100 Parachute supports both manual and automatic deployments
July 8, 2026 – DJI, the world's leader in civil drones and creative camera technology, today released DJI AP100 Parachute for Matrice 400. Designed for rear-mount installation and weighing approximately 935 g, this add-on safety system preserves the Matrice 400’s 15.8kg maximum takeoff weight with a minimal impact on flight time of about 6 minutes. Featuring independent power and full-link redundancy, it supports both manual and automatic deployments. With a response time under 600 ms1; and a descent rate below 5 m/s1;, adding AP100 Parachute can help protect an operation's fleet, payload, and surrounding environment.

Enables Operational Safety in Europe and Beyond
WithAP100 Parachute, the DJI Matrice 400 enterprise drone can meet the operational safety requirements for both the European Union Aviation Safety Agency(EASA)and the UK Civil Aviation Authority(CAA). More specifically, DJI AP100 Parachute can be mounted on an existing Matrice 400 to meet C5 or UK5 operational safety requirements, as applicable for STS-01. However, the C6 or UK6 Class label only applies to factory-certified systems. This means organizations must obtain the new DJI Matrice 400 (C6) Worry-Free Plus Combowith the AP100 parachute included to meet C6 or UK6 requirements, as applicable for STS-02. Additionally, AP 100 Parachute can also facilitate compliance for Standard Scenarios, including flights over populated urban areas (STS-01) and Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations (STS-02).
Safety Self-Checks, Dual Redundant System
AP100 Parachute functions as a self-contained safety module to independently ensure the safety of an operation from the moment the Matrice 400 is powered on through the entire flight. The parachute continuously monitors the status of the gas generator and communication links, sending real-time alerts if an anomaly occurs. Equipped with an independent flight control system and sensors, it also uses intelligent algorithms to continuously cross-validate data between the drone and the parachute in real time, significantly reducing the risk of accidental deployment.
None of these features relies on the Matrice 400’s power or an active E-Port Connection. AP100 has built-in dual capacitors that provide up to 1 hour of independent backup power1; to ensure uninterrupted flight attitude monitoring and automatic deployment. Conversely, an independent Flight Termination System (FTS), if triggered, will cut motor power within 600 ms1;, stopping the rotors before parachute ejection to prevent entanglement.
Fast Deployment, Reduced Impact
AP100 Parachute can be deployed automatically or manually. If anomalies in flight attitude or speed are detected, the parachute will automatically deploy within 600 ms1;with a descent rate below 5 m/s1;. This safety feature is designed to help operators protect theirplatform, payloads, and the ground below.Alternatively, the parachute can be triggered to deploy through the on-screen slider in DJI Pilot 2. In the EU, UK, and other supported countries or regions, automatic deployment is triggered when the drone breaches a Geocaging boundary set in the DJI Pilot 2 app, while remote deployment is available through DJI FlightHub 2's Flight Termination System (FTS). After deployment, AP100 Parachute continuously emits loud alarms and high-intensity flashing lights for approximately 1 hour to alert people on the ground to clear the area and help operators recover their equipment.
Built for Harsh Environments
Sharing Matrice 400's IP55 rating, the system operates reliably in challenging conditions, including heavy dust or rain. It also maintains stable performance across temperatures from -20° to 50° C (-4° to 122° F), delivering consistent results in both hot and cold conditions.
